CASHMERE KIDS is a small family owned farm. We are located down a picturesque canyon in the hills to the East of San Francisco Bay, CA and about an hour from Stockton, CA.
In 1999 Valerie and her family moved from the suburbs to a home on a few acres of land. It was suggested that goats would be a way to keep the weeds down and Cashmere Kids was born.
In 2017, Cashmere Kids purchased mill equipment that allows us to process cashmere (yours and ours) from fleece to post-carder rovings. Our intention is to offer fiber processing services to local farmers who produce cashmere or similar fiber. We also offer fiber processing to those with only a few goats and a limited weight of fleece.
Currently we have a herd of 45 cashmere producing goats. We offer for sale cashmere roving and yarn in natural colors of white, light and dark brown and grey with cashmere from our own herd. We also offer our cashmere blended with fine cormo wool, cashmere blended with silk and cashmere blended with mohair to make luxurious batts or post-carder rovings. Hand dying is done at the mill and hand spinning is available.
We have been fortunate and wish to express appreciation for assistance generously given to us over the years.
We purchased our first 5 goats from Eileen Cornwall, Royal Cashmere Goats (RCG) and Julie Brimble in Oregon. From RCG, Grand Champion RCG Clarrisa joined us. In 2005, Grand Champion Liberty Diablo and later, Liberty Silver from Mickey Nielsen, Liberty Farm visited for 3 months. In 2013 we purchased Junior Champion Caprette Dea from Barbara and Ron Fiorica, Caprette Cashmere. These fine animals set the foundation for the herd of healthy, quality cashmere producing animals which we enjoy today.
We would enjoy hearing from you with questions and comments. A list of products available, prices for finished cashmere and for fiber processing are available on request.
