THE FARM
CASHMERE KIDS FARM was started in 1996 by Valerie Hamilton. She had spent many summers as a child visiting grandparents on their farms, and has wonderful memories of these times. As retirement approached she wondered if she could develop her own farm.
THE GOATS (Click here for pictures and information)
Friends introduced her to cashmere producing goats and she was “hooked”. The goats are intelligent, handsome, offered fire protection through foraging and – they produce Cashmere. Cashmere Kids came into being with the purchase of 5 does, one buck and Tobie, a guardian donkey. Today, Cashmere Kids Farm has a herd of 45 healthy goats. The quality of the cashmere and the well being of the goats is supported by sound animal husbandry practices and careful attention to genetic principles when breeding.

We are delighted to be able to share with you the fine cashmere products from our goats. Cashmere is processed to 100% cashmere cloud, batts and rovings for hand spinners and yarn for weavers and knitters. The colors of the finished cashmere are natural or the cashmere may be dyed with natural dyes. Many of the natural dyes used are grown in our gardens.
THE FINE FIBER MILL
With equipment purchased from Stonehenge Fiber Milling Equipment and from Belfast Mini-Mills, Cashmere Kids Fiber Mill is able to processes the fiber produced by their own goats. In addition to 100% cashmere products, cashmere may be blended with fine mohair from Buckeye Farms, Bombyx silk and cormo wool collected at first shearing of young cormo goats..
PROCESSING FOR OTHERS (Click here for information)
Since 2017 we have offered customized processing to other producers of fine fiber. We welcome fiber from small farms and will accept amounts of raw fiber less than one pound for processing. This has proven to be popular with producers and enjoyable and educational for us.
RETIREMENT has become rewarding, a lot of work, a lot of learning and much fun.
